What You Shouldn’t Do When Going to Criminal Court

Criminal court is scary for most people who need to go.  If you have a case coming up in the near future or if you are headed to court to support a loved one who does, there are a few things to keep in mind to make it a less scary experience. When you are headed to the hayward criminal court, keep the following information in mind to make the day as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Wear a Hat

It is disrespectful to the court to enter with a cap of any type on your head. Whether you’re a man or a woman, you should refrain from wearing a hat, although scarves and other similar items are acceptable.

Turn Off Your Cell Phone

When entering the courthouse, turn off your cell phone so you don’t forget while court is in procession. If you manage to leave the cellphone on and it rings or otherwise makes noises, the judge has the right to confiscate the phone with the option not to return it!

Don’t Bring in Food or Drink

You’ll be in court for just a short period of time so eat before you arrive and once you leave. Don’t bring in food or drink. Water fountains are available if you need something to drink. Otherwise, leave the food, snacks, gum, colas, and other items in the car or at home.

Don’t Bring Weapons

Most people know that weapons of any type aren’t allowed in court, but you might be surprised to learn how many people forget they have weapons in their bags and take them to court anyway. Don’t be one of these people and search through your items before court, removing knives, guns, and other items that can be perceived as a threat to the court.
